How much does window replacement cost?

Every project is priced individually, so there's no single number that fits every home: your cost depends on the number of windows you're replacing, the window styles you choose, the glass package, and how your home is built. How long does installation take?

Window installation typically takes anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days, depending on how many windows you're replacing. Door installation runs from a couple of hours for a standard door to longer for large doors with transoms. Before installation, your custom-made windows and doors need time to be built: lead time is typically 4 to 6 weeks, and at least 8 weeks for specialty paint colors or special shapes. Do I need to be home during installation?

Yes. You'll need to be home during installation, which we schedule at your convenience so we can pick a day that works for you. Rest assured, we'll stay in constant communication with weekly updates leading up to the day so there are no surprises.

How does the measurement appointment work?

Once you accept your quote, we schedule a visit from a Zen Windows measure technician at a time that works for you. The technician measures every window and door in your project and takes photos so your replacements are custom-built to fit exactly. Your quoted price doesn't change after this visit. Don't worry, it's a measuring appointment, not a sales call, and it's the only visit we need before your order goes in.

Is financing available?

Yes. We offer several financing options that cover many different scenarios, so you can spread the cost of your project over time if that works better for your budget. Financing doesn't change our no-money-down approach: you still pay nothing until your installation is complete. Your local Zen Windows advisor can walk you through the options during your virtual consultation.

Do I need to be home for the consultation?

No. Your consultation is virtual, so it can happen wherever you are: on a lunch break, at the park, or even out of town. There's no home visit required to get a quote. All we need up front are a few photos, rough measurements, and some details about your project.

Do both decision makers need to attend?

No. Only one property owner needs to attend the virtual consultation. We'll send your quote by email afterward so you can review it together on your own schedule, with no pressure to decide on the spot. If the other decision maker has questions later, that's okay too! Just reach out and we'll walk through them.

How long is the consultation?

Plan on about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how many questions you have. During that time we'll look at your photos, talk through window and door styles, glass packages, and colors, and show you the products you're considering. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your options and a free, easy-to-understand quote on its way to your inbox.

Is there a showroom?

No, we don't operate a showroom, and that's one of the ways we keep our process simple. You'll see the products during your virtual consultation presentation, in our brochure, and in our product videos, so you can compare styles, finishes, and glass options from home. Our local advisors are happy to answer detailed product questions along the way, and you can explore our window types and styles anytime.

Should I choose a fiberglass or steel entry door?

Both are excellent choices, and the right one depends on your priorities. Fiberglass entry doors give you the look of stained wood without the risk of wood rot, so they're a great fit if you want a warm, traditional look with low maintenance. Steel entry doors are economical, energy efficient, and secure. Compare both on our entry doors page, or ask your advisor during your consultation.

Should I choose a French or sliding patio door?

French patio doors swing open on hinges, which gives you a wide, elegant opening but requires clearance for the swing, and they typically cost more. Sliding patio doors move horizontally along a track, require very little room to operate, and are the more economical option. Can I replace just the door slab?

No. We replace the full door assembly, not just the door slab, so your new door and its frame are designed to work together from day one. If you're not sure whether your door is a candidate for replacement, send us a few photos and we'll let you know.

Will a new exterior door help with drafts?

Yes. A new exterior door can help reduce drafts, because we replace the entire assembly rather than hanging a new slab in your old frame. Learn more on our entry doors and patio doors pages.

Do you offer noise-reducing or specialty glass?

Yes. Energy-efficient glass is standard on every window we sell, and we also offer glass packages that help reduce outside noise. Stained and specialty glass options are available for windows and doors if you want a decorative touch. What don't you do?

We focus on one thing: replacing windows and exterior doors in existing homes. We don't offer repairs of any kind, interior doors, glass block, or shower doors, and we don't take on commercial projects or new construction.
